Red Sox Chick/Toeing the Rubber

Because you always need a backup plan

You worry me to death

See what you're missing?

See what you're missing? Typos and all!

I woke up Wednesday morning to no Internet access.   My MacBook Pro is aging and breaking down and if I had a full-time job I’d be replacing it right now (I adore my MacBook Pro.  I’d do commercials for free for it.  I can’t say enough good things about it but I worry that, soon, I’ll have to say goodbye), but for now I have to work with what I have and cross my fingers every day that when I turn it on it’ll work.  So far, so good, but I worried Wednesday that I was looking at the beginning of the end (or, really, the middle of the end).  Thankfully, it turned out to be an issue with Comcast which they remedied rather quickly and a day I thought I’d spend very little time online, I ended up spending almost all day right there thanks to the Nomar announcement.  Because of that announcement, I spent the day reading everything I could find on Nomar and the Sox and watching ESPN News and MLB Network and NESN.

On March 10 (Wednesday) I posted 3 different entries to the blog.  That isn’t so bad because the blog isn’t in your face.  If you want to read my blog you have to come visit the site (or open up your RSS reader).  Twitter, though, that’s a different story.  On Wednesday I posted 36 times (counting re-tweets but not counting responses to people).  I was a little chatty.   I got a little self-conscience about it, after the fact, because I know that there are some people I follow on Twitter I’ve “unfollowed” for filling up my Twitter feed with stuff I don’t want to read (I have noticed that there are certain people who, when they do this,  it doesn’t bother me.  I haven’t yet figured out how I judge this.) and I didn’t want to alienate anyone with my random “Oh John Wasdin. How I wish your talent matched your looks.” tweets while watching a ten year-old ballgame on NESN.

To be fair, I kind of live-tweeted Nomar’s presser so that added to the total.  Even so, Twitter is weird in that, once people start following you, you basically inflict yourself upon them.  I suppose you could argue that by following you people are saying “Talk to me” but I still felt like maybe I was talking too much (although I only lost one follower during the Nomar live tweeting – that’s encouraging!).

So I’ve decided that I have to let go any “guilty” feelings about over-tweeting for now.  I go under the assumption that most people who follow me on Twitter either read my blog or just know me so they know that I’m going to jump in with the random tweets.  (Back in my MLBlogs days I used to do this on the blog and just post random blurbs during the games…Twitter makes it easier to do that in short-form.)  And for those interested, during the season if I’m not live-blogging, most likely I’ll be over at Twitter throwing out random observations on the game (or other games, I’m up most nights watching other games too) if that kind of thing interests you.

I guess the point of this post is to apologize to those of you I bombarded with my ramblings on Wednesday but to also let people know that, once the season starts, you’re probably going to get a lot more of that.  🙂  So decide at your own risk whether you want to follow me!  I hope you do but I’ll understand if you just say “Oh for crying out loud SHUT UP ALREADY!”.
